Women’s hair-loss tends to be more complicated than in men and at Boss Clinic, we understand the many causes which may lead to its condition.

Hair loss treatments

The only medically-proven hair loss treatment for women that has been shown to regrow hair and stop female pattern hair loss is minoxidil. Whilst licensed internationally to treat genetic hair loss in both men and women, minoxidil is also known to be effective in treating other hair loss conditions.

At Boss Clinic, we offer a range of minoxidil products which have performed superbly as part of a tailor-made hair loss treatment program. Hair regrowth boosters such as the innovative Boss Clinic, will assist with hair re-growth when used regularly as part of a treatment plan.

Effective treatment courses for women

There are many steps involved in the treatment course of counteracting hair-loss in women.

To get started however, it is important to understand why the hair-loss has occurred in the first place.

Hair loss is genetically predisposed from birth for both men and women via an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. This enzyme turns testosterone into another hormone derivative called dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

This is the culprit that attaches to hair follicles on the top of the head, causing them to shrink with every growth cycle.

As a result, hair becomes thinner until the hair follicles become dysfunctional and in turn, hair stops growing.

Lifestyle issues such as physical and psychological factors, hormone problems, stress and lack of certain nutrients, may also contribute to female hair-loss.

Step one:
ensure hair follicles are receiving as much blood as possible.

Primary medications
By increasing nutrients to and decreasing shrinkage of the hair follicles, minoxidil works hard at providing extra blood supply and opening up potassium channels to the areas it is applied. In doing so, hair loss is prevented and in most cases, regrowth is encouraged.

Step two:
prevent further hair loss by blocking DHT from reaching the hair follicles

Although there is no treatment clinically proven to prevent DHT formation in women, prescriptions such as Medroxyprogesterone (MPG) or Azelaic Acid (AA) may help to prevent DHT and can be found in some minoxidil products.
